As NatCon, the National Council for Mental Wellbeing’s annual conference, continued to grow, the event outpaced its existing venue and required a move to a larger convention center. The organization needed to accommodate increased attendance and exhibitor demand while maintaining a focused, mission-driven, human-centered experience that did not add unnecessary operational or budget complexity.

Solution

Nth Degree and Fern partnered with NatCon to deliver a budget- conscious transition to a larger venue through early alignment and intentional planning. The expanded footprint was used strategically to integrate play and wellness experiences directly into the exhibit hall, while closer collaboration with sponsors helped ensure activations supported the event’s mission and maximized value. By prioritizing what mattered most to attendees, the team delivered a scalable experience that balanced growth, cost management, and the event’s mission of human connection.

Result

The transition enabled continued growth, including 35.4% growth in net square footage and a 24.3% increase in exhibiting companies. NatCon successfully scaled the event while maintaining its mission-driven focus, with play, and wellness activations contributing to a positive attendee experience for more than  5,000 participants. Reinforcing that thoughtful budgeting with experience-first design can successfully support growth.
